About Kuno-Palpur Wildlife Sanctuary
- Kuno National Park is located in Sheopur District in Madhya Pradesh.
- It was established in 1981 as a wildlife sanctuary and given the status of National Park in 2018.
- The dominant communities in the area are Sahariyas, Gujjars and Yadavs.
- The main livelihoods of the people are agriculture, pastoralism, casual labor and collection of non-timber forest products.
- Kuno River, which is one of the major tributaries of Chambal River flows through the National Park bisecting it.
- The Kuno wildlife sanctuary has been the home of four of India’s big cats, the tiger, the leopard, the Asiatic lion and also cheetah historically.
- Currently, the leopard and striped hyena are the only larger carnivores within the Kuno National Park.
