Bharat Tex 2024
Context:
Recently, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated Bharat Tex 2024 on February 26th, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Focus and Scope:
- Bharat Tex 2024 focuses on the entire textiles value chain, in line with the Prime Minister’s 5F Vision (farm to foreign via fibre, fabric and fashion focus).
- It aims to showcase India’s strengths in the textile sector and reinforce its global textile powerhouse status.
Event Highlights and Features :
- Organized by a consortium of 11 Textile Export Promotion Councils and supported by the government, the event emphasized on trade, investment, and sustainability.
- More than 65 knowledge sessions with over 100 global panelists addressed various sector-related issues.
- Dedicated pavilions on sustainability and circularity, an ‘Indi Haat’, fashion presentations, fabric testing zones, and product demonstrations were a part of the event.
- Fashion presentations covered themes like Indian Textiles Heritage, sustainability, and global designs.
The Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan:
- The Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan, also known as the Self-reliant India campaign, embodies the vision for a new India. In 2020, the Prime Minister rallied the nation, initiating the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan and unveiling a Special economic and comprehensive package totaling INR 20 lakh crores, equivalent to 10% of India’s GDP.
- The primary objective is to foster independence and self-sufficiency among the country and its citizens across all domains. The Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative identifies five pillars:
- Economy
- Infrastructure
- System
- Vibrant Demography
- Demand.
- Its aim is to reduce reliance on imports by emphasizing substitution while enhancing safety standards and the quality of goods to capture a larger share of the global market. The concept of self-reliance does not entail exclusionary or isolationist strategies; rather, it entails extending a helping hand to the world at large.
- The mission underscores the significance of promoting locally made products. In conjunction with the Atma Nirbhar Bharat mission, the government has implemented various bold reforms, including Supply Chain Reforms for Agriculture, Rational Tax Systems, Simple & Clear Laws, Capable Human Resource, and a Strong Financial System. These reforms are expected to expedite the achievement of self-reliance.
