Recently, the 45th Deep Dive Training program for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs), organized by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Cyber Surakshit Bharat Initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

Key Details of the Training Program:

  • Organizing Body and Venue: The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), as part of its Capacity Building scheme, conducted the 45th CISO Deep-Dive training from June 18 – 22, 2024, at the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) in Hyderabad.
  • Participants: The program saw participation from CISOs across several states, including Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Rajasthan, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.
  • Objectives and Focus Areas:
    • Cybersecurity Education: The training aimed to provide CISOs with comprehensive knowledge on cyber-attacks, exposure to advanced cybersecurity technologies, and strategies for translating a resilient e-infrastructure into benefits for organizations and citizens.
    • Legal and Policy Formulation: It also focused on legal aspects of cybersecurity, enabling CISOs to develop robust policies and effective cyber crisis management plans.
    • Capacity Building: The primary goal was to raise awareness, build capacities, and empower government departments to establish a cyber-resilient ecosystem.
  • Background: Launched in 2018, this CISO training program represents a pioneering public-private partnership (PPP) model involving the government and an industry consortium.

About MeitY’s Cyber Surakshit Bharat Initiative:

  • Mission: The initiative aims to spread awareness about cybercrime and build the capacities of CISOs and frontline IT officials across all government departments.
  • Objectives:
    • Ensure robust safety measures to combat cybercrime.
    • Enable organizations to defend their digital infrastructures and prepare for future cyber-attacks.
  • Public-Private Partnership: The initiative leverages the expertise of the IT industry in cybersecurity through partnerships with leading companies like Microsoft, WIPRO, Intel, NASSCOM, and CERT-In.
  • Principles: Operates on the principles of awareness, education, and enablement, incorporating training programs on various aspects of cybersecurity.
