- These are given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (earlier known as Hollywood Foreign Correspondents Association) and began in January 1944.
- The first formal social event or gala was conducted by the Hollywood Foreign Correspondents Association in 1945.
- 2023 marks the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards.
- Currently the Golden Globes recognizes achievements in 25 categories including 14 in motion pictures and 11 in television.
