• The 40th edition of Hunar Haat was inaugurated by Union Minister Anurag Thakur in Mumbai recently.

About:

• The Ministry of Minority Affairs has taken the initiative to provide the artisans/craftsmen of India with a large platform through Hunar Haat to showcase their expertise and explore employment opportunities under the “Upgrading the Skills and Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development (USTAAD)” programme.
• Hunar Haat has established itself as a reliable brand of indigenous Indian artisans and craftsmen over time. Hunar Haat has ensured the “Development with Dignity” of the country’s artisans and craftsmen.
• It’s a fantastic initiative to bring Indian artisans’ talent to the forefront of the “Local to Global” movement.
• It is common knowledge that branding/promotion of the country’s Master Artisans’ art is critical, with programmes like “Hunar Haat” playing a key part.

What is the USTAAD scheme?

• USTTAD scheme aims to preserve heritage of traditional arts and crafts of minority communities and build capacity of traditional crafts persons and artisans.
